The Black Panther Movie - Fashion

Oooooooh yes! This movie was epic! I was clearly not ready for this.
The scene where King T'Challa is about to fight for his right to be the King, where I saw the Ndebele people, my life was never the same! Ok maybe I'm being a bit dramatic but I really did not expect that level of diversity in the tribes that they had in the movie. The thing is, not only did they have different tribes, they also hooked them up with their cultural attire. Wow! identity is so important and you saw it throughout the movie with the different clothing that they had the characters wearing.
The movie had the Ndebele (South Africa/Zimbabwe) people with their colorful clothing, beaded neck pieces and gold neck rings. The Basotho (Lesotho) people who were identified by their blankets. The OvaHimbi (Namibia) people were distinctly represented with their hair locking method, where they use a red-brown paste and leave a puff at the end. The Zulu (South Africa) people who were represented by the Queen mother who wore the traditional head dress. The Maasai (Tanzania/Kenya) people who were wearing the distinct Maasai Shuka. I mean the list just seems endless. They covered the Ejagham (Nigeria), the Dahomey Amazon women (Republic of Benin), the Igbo (Nigeria), the Mursi (Ethiopia) and the Ghanaians.
I was more than pleased with the representation that Africa got in this movie. It was beautiful to see the different clothing and accessories being mixed across the different cultures represented. The movie managed to give us a futuristic representation of African fashion and how it can be modernized and be worn across cultures but still strongly represent its origin.
No need to say, this movie left me inspired because this is something I would like to see in future. Where despite where you are from, you can wear African inspired garments in a fashionable way.
Yes! Wakanda Forever
